I usually don't like sharing products I buy. It's very difficult to get the balance of writing just right, rave too much and one might mistake you for bragging....but leave out the details and you run the risk of appearing nonchalant, disinterested and spoiled. After all, who blows $20 on a pair of eyelash curlers and then isn't super excited about it, that's what I want to know! So here it is, a small part of the hoard of beauty related items I bought/was gifted when the sales blazed, the double point buys were available, and YouTube sent me my December check. I do intend on reviewing these for you guys in hopes that I can help you pick out the goodies that will best suit your needs!
Price Paid - $24.00 USD
Why I Bought It - The only bronzer (or contouring product) that I have is the e.l.f. Studio Contour Blush and Bronzing Cream, a popular alternative to the NARS set. Though I paid a ridiculously inexpensive price the coloring is just too orange for my very pale skin. I had read too many positive reviews about the original NARS set that I decided to save my pennies and eventually purchased the travel size, which will last me quite awhile.
Product - Urban Decay Travel Size Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Price Paid - $12.00 USD
Why I Bought It - My eyelids (just like my hair and face) are super SUPER oily. Now, I've only ever tried one other primer, which happens to be another e.l.f. product (the Essentials Eyelid Primer) and it didn't help my shadow really stay in place. Granted, I paid $1.00 for it and I believe the old adage of "You get what you paid for." can be applied here. Nevertheless, a new primer was a must have if eyeshadow was to become a reality for me. Mine always creases and I eventually stopped applying what little bit I had because it wasn't worth my trouble.
Product - Mini Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional
Price Paid - This one was actually a gift from my darling friend Karoline! But, I know she got it from Sephora for $10.00 USD.
Why I Bought It - My best mate and I have been oogling this product forever. My pores on my nose are quite noticeable and as I always apply a primer before foundation to help minimize breakouts, she couldn't have gotten me a better present!
Product - Benefit Cosmetics Mini They're Real! Mascara
Price Paid - This is my second makeup gift from Karoline! She really knows how to shop, doesn't she? But again, I know she paid $10.00 USD for it, because she's a good friend and told me so I could write this post. ;)
Why I Bought It - Well, this is another one she and I have both been oogling. I don't like clumpy mascara myself, and I heard that the brush for this particular one is very good at minimizing eyelashes sticking together and removing lumpiness.
Product - Urban Decay Naked2 Basics
Price Paid - $29.00 USD
Why I Bought It - I don't have any high-quality eyeshadows. Yes, I know, shame on me. BUT, my
eyelids are dark to begin with and they have been since I was about 8 years-old. Besides that, I'm rubbish at applying them and they always crease. However, now that I have the Primer Potion, I was anxious to buy one little palette so give the eyeshadow world another chance. So why this particular one? Mainly because I don't like sparkly eyes for everyday where and because the neutral colors compliment my skin shade. I'm super excited to try this out!
Product - Shiseido Eyelash Curler
Price Paid - $19.00 USD
Why I Bought It - I didn't own any eyelash curlers, surprisingly. I've been stealing them from my mother ever since I was 16 and the own pair I did buy broke within a few uses. I guess I always prioritized other items over this one, but Mum finally had it and made me buy my own! I've heard wonderful things about these so I can't wait to start curling!
Product - Paul Mitchell Strength Super Strong Daily Shampoo (33.8 oz Bottle)
Price Paid - Originally $23.98 USD - BOUGHT ON SALE - $15.99 USD
Why I Bought It - I have the trial size version of this fabulous shampoo and it has been the only one I've tried that added volume to my hair, was cleansing, AND didn't make my hair oily if I slept on it. I saw the big fat bottle was on sale so I picked it up!
Product - Ciate Flower Manicure in Bada Boom
Price Paid - Originally $25.00 USD - BOUGHT ON SALE - $18.00 USD
Why I Bought It - I had never seen the concept of putting pressed flowers on the nail. I have been impressed with Ciate before (see my Glitter Toenails Tutorial I made using their Glitter Kit here) and was very inclined to purchase another after loving the first.
So as you can see, this is quite a haul indeed! So what about you!? What did you get for Christmas? Any beauty related products I NEED to know about!?
