The Sunday Reset — Clean + Frosted

A guide to stepping into a fresh new week

This week's theme - Clean + Frosted

“Clean + frosted” is that first-breath-of-winter feeling—like freshly washed linen meeting cold morning air. It’s the scent of clarity: cool, bright, and quietly energizing. This month, we have two soaps (linked at the bottom of this article) that live in this category and they’re basically made for a Sunday reset, when you want your space, your skin, and your mind to feel brand new.

A Bathing Ritual Reset

Choose one small ritual that tells your brain: we’re starting fresh.

Try the Clean + Frosted shower reset:

  1. Start warm, finish cool (even 10–20 seconds). Let it feel like stepping into crisp air. A 2016 study found that individuals who ended their hot showers with 30, 60, or 90 seconds of cold water for at least 30 days reported a 29% reduction in sickness-related work absence, regardless of the duration. ¹
  2. Lather slowly—not like you’re rushing through a task, but like you’re rinsing off the week. This can be a thoughtful time, one of reflection!
  3. Dry off with a towel you love, then put on something soft and simple.
  4. One bright beverage: mint tea, lemon water, or something sparkling. Nothing complicated—just refreshing.

Mini add-on: Put your soap near the sink and do a 30-second handwash pause later in the evening. Breathe in. Shoulders down. Let the clean scent be a “bookmark” between weekend and week.

A Home Reset

A Sunday reset isn’t about deep-cleaning your entire life. It’s about one visible win that makes everything feel lighter.

  • Pick one of these (set a 12-minute timer):
  • Counter clear: kitchen + bathroom counters completely empty and wiped
  • Fresh textiles: swap hand towels, pillowcases, or dish towel for clean ones
  • Entryway reset: shoes lined up, coats hung, one small bowl/tray for keys
  • “Air out” moment: crack a window for 5 minutes to let the clean air in (if it’s cold where you are, even better)

Then do the best part: make the room smell like “fresh.” Not overpowering—just clean: a quick sweep, a wipe-down, a calm surface. Your brain loves a clean visual horizon.

A Nature Reset

Spending time outdoors and exposure to green space has been linked to better sleep, lower blood pressure, and reduced risk of chronic disease. ¹

Step outside for 10 minutes and look for anything that feels crisp or bright:

  • frost patterns on glass
  • pale winter sunlight
  • bare branches against the sky
  • the clean hush after wind
  • a creek, pond, or even a birdbath—any little patch of water or ice

If you can, take one photo of something simple and beautiful. Not for posting—just to train your eyes to notice “fresh.”

Thought for the week

“It is never too late to give up your prejudices.”
—Henry David Thoreau

This week, try a gentle version of that idea:
What’s one assumption you can put to sleep—about yourself, your schedule, or what you “should” be able to handle?

Start there, and let the rest of the week meet you one day at a time.
